What else will we take away?

To ensure it is NOT an add on. We also need to be mindful that this isn’t US & THEM. How do we commission work FOR disabled artists rather that just interpretation of existing work’ Steven, CS ‘Ive had an intense engagement with accessibility though planning conference. Looking how we can continue that’ Sarah, engage ‘deciding something is not actually doing’ #allbeingequal

What will we take away from today?

Ju: two ideas for new work!

Rachel: feel inspired from meeting loads of folk. Ive met people I can call upon for my diversity project at Talbot Rice. I’ll feed back to my fellow staff.

Fiona: great to hear directly from galleries & artists. I’ve met so many people I want to keep in touch with through my curatorial work at The Scottish Parliament.

Steven Palmer of Creative Scotland reflects

Everyone has been a really good catalyst.

How do we move on? Has the project made a difference in terms of board members & inclusiveness.

I want to embed this practice in everything we do. We need to look at the shifting if responsibility.

We have a richness in the visual arts. We need to keep this in the framework. Look at impact .

Caroline Bowditch reflects on the day

Being human

Being brave

You don’t learn much by standing in your comfort zone

Plan OUT of planning

Every organisation should instal an irritant! Someone to question & prod.

Disabled artists, like everyone, sometimes get it wrong.

Try it
Do it
& do it again
